Vines And Pines 5-3-15

A month has blown by already for this baseball and fantasy season. For some players the season started just this last week, it is about time some of these players woke up. After a month, Nelson Cruz is your leader in home runs and RBI, Dee Gordon in average, Wil Myers in runs, and Billy Hamilton is stolen bases. For pitchers, Dallas Keuchel has the lowest ERA, Matt Harvey in wins, Clayton Kershaw in strikeouts, and Jeurys Familia in saves. There are a few surprising names in this list, Keuchel and Myers being the most surprising.

A Month Later

Guys like Evan Gattis, and Ryan Braun were off to slow starts in 2015. That has changed over the last week, both had multi-homer weeks, and drove in their fair share of runs. Buster Posey, Evan Longoria, and Jason Kipnis were other big names to get off the schneid.

Dee Gordon

What a start for Dee Gordon and his fantasy owners. He hit .696 this past week, and is hitting .440 on the season. He is second in the league in stolen bases, and is off one of the elite fantasy players right now. If you picked Gordon, that was a slam dunk pick.

Cringing Fantasy Owners

Over the last week or two, there have been a few players running into the stands, walls, dugouts, you name it and channeling their inner Derek Jeter. These are heavily owned fantasy players, who can take down a team just like that. I am certainly cringing every time I see these plays happen, alongside applauding their effort.

Release the KKKKKraken

It was a big week for a couple starters who dialed up double digit strikeouts. Mike Fiers, Lance Lynn, Andrew Cashner, Max Scherzer, Jon Lester, James Shields, and Drew Smyly all had double-digit strikeout games this week.
