Vines And Pines 5-24-15

It has been seven days since the last vines and pines, and Bryce Harper is still on a tear: .500, 3 HR, 6 R, 6 RBI. He is on pace for 60 home runs this season, a long shot, but at the rate he is going, why not? The Giants filled the stat sheet, with huge weeks from, Brandon Belt, Brandon Crawford, and Buster Posey. Welcome back Hunter Pence as well, hitting over .300 with a homer already. Corey Kluber tacked on seven more strikeouts to his league-leading 76.

Brandon Belt Road Trip

The Giants hitters enjoy playing in one of the best stadiums in baseball, but power numbers do take a hit. So 81 games on the road they make up for it. Belt homered in four straight road games, three in Cincinnati, and one in Coors. He is hitting over .320 this season with those four home runs, the Giants are heating up, and so is Belt.

Klubot

11.09 K/9, 30.4% strikeout rate, 14.6% swinging strike, however you want to look at it, Kluber is a strikeout machine. When he has pitches working like the one below, it is unfair. He is on pace for 320 strikeouts this season, and he could very well flirt with that for the rest of the season.

Prince Fielder Fantasy Owners

Fielder was listed as a bust, sleeper, risk, among other things heading into the 2015 season. We weren’t sure how he would recover from injury, or how he would be protected in the lineup. So what has he done so far? He is hitting a cool .350 with eight home runs, and has driven in 30 RBI. He is striking out at an 11% rate, which is an impressive stat. Chances are you got a top first baseman deep into the draft.

Ryan Braun Wakes Up

A slow start for Ryan Braun, he was hitting just .254 in April, with a few homers. May has been a different story, he is hitting .292 with seven home runs, and 23 RBI. A big sigh of relief from his owners, including myself. He was apart of this back to back to back party against the Tigers.
