Second Baseman (2B) Notables

Arismendy Alcantara (Chicago Cubs). Consider Alcantara manager Joe Maddon’s new Ben Zobrist. Overshadowed by the presence of so many good players in the Cubs’ farm system, Alcantara has the ability to deliver a 20/20 season with the proper playing time, which should come regularly at different positions. Already qualified to play second base and outfielder, Alcantara could pick up 3B eligibility early in the season.

Scooter Gennett (Milwaukee Brewers). Owners in leagues using MI slots would do well to target Gennett for the position. He has the chance to bat leadoff for the Brewers and makes the most sense atop the lineup against right-handed pitching. He should deliver double-digit homers and steals while playing full-time this season. If he can figure out left-handed pitching, the sky’s the limit.
