NL Waiver Wire 5-5-15

Pitchers:

Chris Heston – Giants – SP – Y! 30% – ESPN 32%

I am going to keep drilling Chris Heston in these articles until his ownership skyrockets. He had another great start against the Angels, working into the seventh, allowing one earned, and striking out five. He has a 7 K/9, and outside of his Coors start, has allowed one earned or less in four starts. He is an effective sinker ball pitcher.

Jason Hammel – Cubs – SP – Y! 61% – ESPN 41%

If A.J. Burnett is still available in your league, grab him, but need a new face here. Jason Hammel is a great spot starter in certain matchups. If you have a deeper league, or NL only, Hammel has a solid 8.2 K/9 through four starts.

Position Players:

A.J Pierzynski – Braves – C – Y! 49% – ESPN 52%

His ownership is rising, and still a great fill-in if you are dealing with injuries from Mesoraco, Lucroy, Gomes, and D’Arnaud. He is hitting over .350 and hitting in the middle of the order, giving him plenty of RBI chances.

Adam Lind – Brewers – 1B – Y! 52% – ESPN 49%

Adam Lind has been the only consistent Milwaukee bat so far this season, he is hitting .329 with four home runs. 50% ownership on ESPN unreal, Lind can fill in utility spots, first base, or that corner infield position. He was one of my sleeper first baseman entering the year.

Yangervis Solarte – Padres – 2B, 3B – Y! 14% – ESPN 21%

If you are hurting at either one of these positions, or looking to fill in for injury, or a slow starter, Yangervis Solarte is finally getting regular playing time. He is hitting .328 with 16 RBI. He hits up in the top of the lineup.
