First Baseman Notables

Adrian Gonzalez (Los Angeles Dodgers). After the first five first baseman come off the board, drafters tend to wait on the next crop of players. In Gonzalez’s case, they wait too long. The Dodgers first baseman offers rock-solid consistency across the board, and having production on which you can count is invaluable early in the draft.

Joey Votto (Cincinatti Reds). Votto’s heyday feels well in the past, but it was only 2013 when he hit .305 with 24 home runs, numbers anyone would take at his current draft stock. The Reds first baseman tends to be the last player left at the position before a huge tier drop, and he offers top-five upside at first base if he remains healthy.
