Notable Higher Ranked Player
Travis d’Arnaud: My Rank- 9 ECR- 14
Travis d’Arnaud was a very highly ranked prospect, and the light seemed to go on for him after he was recalled from a Triple-A demotion. He spent most of June in the minors, so we’ll use his second half splits as a simple split for looking at his production. He received 211 plate appearances in the second half and swatted 7 homers with a .265 batting average while cutting his strikeout rate from 18.1% in the first half to 12.3% down the stretch. I’m expecting him to hit around 20 homers and up his batting average into the .270-.275 range.
Notable Lower Ranked Player
Brian McCann: My Rank- 13 ECR- 9
A four player disparity isn’t huge. Having said that, I do like Brian McCann less than the other expert rankers. The shift killed him last year and will continue to hamper him if he’s unable to adjust. I do expect him to play better this year than he did last, but that only amounts to a .250 average with similar power and run production numbers.
