$70 cost to get in the league...

Six teams make the playoffs, does not matter about division, overall record counts except for top two seeds, which will take the top two seeds.

$300 to league tournament winner
$140 to league runner-up in tournament
$100 to best regular season division record
$60 to team with most total points at end of season and playoffs

Draft and League Rules:

There will be 12 teams in this league. The draft will be a regular draft, 25 rounds. However each team must have a $300 salary cap they must use at all times to draft their 25 players (teams that go over cap will result in an illegal lineup until the cap is 300 or less). As teams draft the best players they will also have to take into account how much they have to spend on other players.

The Sporting News Fantasy Baseball Guide 2005 (mixed values) will serve as the salaries for players for the 2005 season. When the magazine comes out shortly thereafter player values will be provided on the website.

Player values will also be emailed to each owner out of the Sporting News for supplementary values but each owner is encouraged to buy the Sporting News Magazine, but all player values will be readily available on the CBS website very soon. A default player value that is not listed in the Sporting News baseball magazine will cost $1 for drop/adds.

The $300 salary cap will also take effect during the season with player add/drops and trades. Trades can occur among teams with players and SALARY CAP money values, if approved by the rest of the league. It will be the owners' responsibility to maintain salary cap management for the entire season. If add/drops and trades go through and then teams go over the salary cap then it is the owners' responsibility to make sure they stay under the salary cap at all times or illegal lineups will result.

Also after the draft any players that were not drafted and if they were listed on the Sporting News Fantasy Baseball mixed salary values, they will maintain their value in the magazine and the player(s) values will not change over to the $1 default value.

This will be an innovative way to run your team for the 2005 season. After the season owners may keep three players of their choice that WILL count against the $280 salary cap for the 2006 season, but each season they keep them they will cost $5 more than their bought price in the draft. For example if Carlos Beltran was drafted for $30 he will cost $35 to be kept for the 2006 season.

Remember this is not an auction. This is a draft that will have a salary cap so teams can stay competitive and run their rosters within their salary cap.

If anyone has any questions, please let Dr. Harwood know at Also the draft date needs to be decided, owners need to let me know when is best for them!

Good luck this season, BH
