Those bolded are the ones that I have already received back. No pressure to the rest, though. Just a way for me to keep track. :-°

lo, did you get the email back?
Did you see how it was done?

I did. That was in Excel?? 8-o Am I gonna be able to C&P that because I couldn't easily edit it. :-o

its a pivot table. yes its easy to cut n paste, but it porbably won't let you do it with a right clic. Hilight the information and use the EDIT button up top.

I went through and edited all the names by hand and then summed them all up. Almost everyone used a different format and there are quite a few people who spell phonetically. :-D

i gave up and basically changed everyone's name to just their last name, all in lowercase. Seemed like everyone had one (or at most two) naming conventions, so RIGHT, LEFT, LOWER, etc made things easier, with the obvious typo exceptions. I couldn't find a way to do a countif that also highlighted the ones it was counting, so i could see the typos that hadn't yet been counted, but I'm sure it was just poor excel skills on my part.

Amazinz.......Any chance that we can have an Excel convention before next year's rankings?? It will help me and the other rankers. I will give them a small quiz before submitting them. :-°

Bah, this thing is killing me ....

1) Some guys have ridiculous rankings, e.g. Nen and Sasaki top 25, Lidge around 25, and Cordero and Benitez miss the top 35 list all together .... prepare for an interesting set of RP rankings guys.

2) Two names in a cell, have to spend time making a new cell, moving everything down, and copy and pasting .... maybe not too arduous but it's still more work.

3) Misspelling, color-coated cells, caps and no caps makes it even harder to read.

Well one idea that might work is next year I can just dump all the 05 players from the Lahman database. Then all we will have to add is the rookies. Then it will be a like a big checklist (you know like the ones on the back of the Topps cards in the 80s) and people can just rank em. Then I can just send you the master sheet. Stick them all in the same directory and press go and it will dump the results into a new Excel file or straight to HTML if Arlo would prefer.

That might be easier. I think that Sooper is ready to reach through the IM screen and choke me.

The main thing that we have to remember is that we're just here to organize them. Whoever did their rankings did it for a reason.
