Boston -- They're just crazy.
New York -- Just because of the size, though they're not the best fans IMO
St Louis -- Probably best overall, maybe not as passionate as Boston, but very knowledgable and appreciate the game the most probly
Chicago -- Just becuase they keep coming back.
Don't know who else I'd put. Oakland definitely wouldn't make my list, that's for sure. :-t

Best is kinda subjective. If you ask owners which city they would want to own a team, I bet almost all would say New York. If you ask players I bet a majority would say St. Louis. If you ask fans you are going to get 30 different answers. :-)

Well I reckon it depends on how you define "best". Yankee fans as a whole are among the most unknowledgeable throughout all of professional sports. Their reputation is quite unmerited.

LOL. Didn't they boo a kid sometime for missing a foul ball or something? And they also booed Santa one time too at a 76ers game. Or do I have them confused with someone else? I'd call them the most passionate fans in sport, but probably not the best.

Gotta go with the hometown fans. St. Louis fans rock!

That's a prejudice, Irish.

I agree with the "depends on the definition of 'best'" theory, but I have to point out that St. Louis was the only market in the entire country where the TV ratings for their playoff game beat the ratings for the final debate on the same night.

Does that mean we have misplaced priorities here? Or does it mean that everyone else's priorities are out of whack?

:-?

Yes, and they hurled chicken bones and D batteries at JD Drew and cheered Michael Irvin when he was down on the ground possibly paralyzed.

I reiterate that I said it depends how you define best. If you're not going with passion then Yankees fans are gone, as they have zero substance. Hell I could question the ethic of Yankees fans after they had to bring out the NYPD in riot gear last night, but I digress.

I live in Northern New Jersey, about 90 minutes from Philadelphia and 60 minutes from NYC so I'm surrounded by fans of both franchises and I can safely say that Philadelphia fans are better informed than Yankees fans.
