Why I hate Vinny Castilla.

Batting behind Castilla is like a RBI wasteland.

Castilla's OBP is a pathetic .332. Once you factor out the 30 homers he has hit, he's on base for Burnitz about 27.6% of the time. That's gotta be among the lowest out of any everyday player. Other power hitters actually have great OBP. Castilla has the lowest OBP out of the top 25 home run hitters.

And it's not enough that he can't get on base for Burnitz, he has to find other ways to stop Burnitz from getting RBI's. Castilla does a great job of clearing the bases with his 114 RBI's. When he can't get the RBI's Castilla grounds into an almost league leading 22 double plays. :~(

Somehow Burnitz has still managed to get 99 RBI's. Thanks Helton ;-D

:-D Vinny does great for me in the RBI catagory, especially when I play my foe who owns Burnitz H2H ;-)

This also illustrates the Job of a "typical" four hitter. One of many baseball ideologies would have this spot swing the bat and make contact whenever possible, with power of course.

Both Castilla and Burzitz are garbage. Their stats are totally a product of Coors Field.

Vinny
Home: .337/.393/.612
Road: .202/.267/.470

Burnitz
Home: .330/.391/.704
Road: .254/.331/.466

Granted Burnitz is less garbage on the road than Castilla...

i have vinny because he didn't put up numbers anywhere near this when he was with the braves :-/

granted, his numbers in ATL were better than his road splits this year, it was still obvious that the braves over-paid for him significantly. last year he was okay... but honestly, you could stick anyone in that braves lineup and have them knock in some runs.

I hate him because he has more homers AWAY than at HOME. Obviously, I'm one of the many who only start him at home (at least that's what I've done in the 2nd half or so, because I didn't have the roster space to do so earlier on).

Yup, I'm right with you on that one. Would see these numbers from one of their road games, and be wishing I would have started him. Totally goes against what the overall numbers show.

I've played Burnitz pretty much exclusively at home all year (with away games at AZ as exception) and I haven't looked back. It's been sweet and played out exactly as I hoped.
