Mulder Vs. Vazquez Comparison

Postby thirdeye44 » Fri Sep 10, 2004 9:51 pm

Just wondering why everyone is bashing Vazquez and not Mulder lately. I'm just saying because everyone holds Mulder so high.

Past 11 Starts, doesn't include todays stats(Sept 10th)

Mulder
ERA: 5.47
HR: 10
BB: 34
K: 46
W-L: 6-2

Vazquez
ERA: 6.81
HR: 12
BB: 25
K: 48
W-L: 4-3

Yes Vazquez's ERA is higher but only because they pull him out right away and don't give him a chance to settle down, while the A's leave Mulder in longer before pulling him. This also contributes to Mulder's higher win total. Perhaps if they would let Vazquez in a little longer the Yanks would pull it out for him. Also Mulder has walked more people and struck out less.

Anyone think I'm crazy or dumb for posting this? Anything to add? Thanks.

You do have a good point. I don't own Mulder, but I've known he has struggled for quite a while now. No one ever mentions him though at all on this board and how bad he has been pitching.

I guess it is easier to get upset at a Yankee. :-b

Vazquez' performance last night vs. O's speaks for itself :~( He is so unreliable, some newspapers in New York are speculating that Tanyon Sturtze might get a playoff start before he does 8-o OUCH!!! !+)

and if i remember correctly his 240 K's from last year combined with him being in NY had peeps drooling all over him without considering that hes changing leagues and moving into a much tougher offensive division.

I think that going from Canada to the Bronx has something to do with it too. Talk about culture shock.
