Good news for Nomo

Hideo Nomo - S - LA Free Ship. on Dodgers Tix

Hideo Nomo has been cleared to start for Triple-A Las Vegas Monday, after the Dodgers were quite impressed with his 50-pitch bullpen session yesterday.
"He was excellent," pitching coach Jim Colborn said. "In everything I use to grade pitchers, he got an 'A.' The pitches were sharp, the command was good, and he had good extension on his pitches. He looked really good." Nomo is expected to pitch three innings Monday, followed by as many as five Aug. 21. If he looks sharp, the Dodgers might activate him from the DL after that. might be a good late season add for some.

I am sure most everyone dropped him

The only good news for Nomo owners would be if he was done for the year. I wouldn't touch him at all.

So long as he is not on a pitch count, I would use him for spot starts at home. He's great in LA.

Not this year. :-o I need to see a little more velocity from him to consider him in an NL only league. :-?

You're right, I was thinking of Ishii.

Funny how those guys are opposites with respect to pitching at home.

Why would anyone pitch worse in LA?

He has just been terrible this year. An 85 MPH heater and a split that hangs isn't a good recipe no matter where you pitch. He has been injured but I was staying away this year no matter what.
