great moves and dumb moves

good: Sheets for C. Guillen and Russ Ortiz, as a throw in b/c 'I'll need a pitcher', right before the allstar break

bad: Foulke AND Garrett Anderson for Zito, like the first week of the season

Super dee dooper: finally dumping Zito on waivers last week as I needed room for Benitez coming off the DL. I was in 3rd and moved into 2nd w/ another win and...the first place team picked Zito up in time to get the L for the weekend.

Fortunately, KC only managed 2 ER off of him in 7 IP so perhaps he'll fall into the 'he's not that bad' trap for long enough for me to catch him and beat him like a drum in the playoffs....

I had a terrible draft in my main league (5X5 roto, $).

Look at this:
1. Prior
2. Ramirez
3. Giles
4. Berkman
5. C. Jones
6. Morris
7. Beckett
8. Santana
9. Benitez
10. Sweeney
11. Reyes
12. F. Cordero
13. Ensberg
14. Contreras
15. Burrell
16. Nen
17. Graves
18. Durham
19. V. Martinez
20. Cintron
21. Cameron
22. Weaver

As you can see, my picks were either very good, or very bad. Believe it or not, I still remain in 3rd place, 20 or so points above 4th and the rest, about 3.5 away from 2nd. Now, here are my notable pickups/trades:

Od. Perez (essentially the entire year)
V. Castilla (had to start him home & away for a while. He's now platooning with Gathright).
M. Giles
C. Cordero

03/31: M. Ramirez+Nen for Beltran...pretty good. I need the SBs. ;-D
05/14: B. Giles for Tejada ;-D
05/20: Morris+Durham for Zito...moot point. Morris and Zito have both sucked, so I'll give it a ;-D, because Morris has been even more inconsistent than Zito, if that's possible.
06/17: Berkman+Graves for Pujols ;-D ;-D ;-D ;-D ;-D ;-D
06/21: F. Cordero+B. Roberts for Foulke :-t

I fell into that trap with D. Riske in Clevaland when he was closing, 3 saves but a nice 7.50 ERA and 2.3 WHIP tagged to me for a few weeks really hurt. I finally dropped him but didn't want any part of Clevelands releif anymore so I didn't pick up Wickman who's got 6 saves with a 0.9 ERA and 0.8 WHIP for his new owner so far! :~(

As for good: J.D. Drew in the 15th round was a steal. ;-D

Since the debacles where I waited too long to pick up Oliver Perez, Alou, and Beltre, I finally shook it off and picked up Lew Ford, Bay, and Morneau.

Also earilier in this year I traded Mauer for F. Cordero. ;-D

Good: drafting ben sheets in the last round of my single season roto league, and also trading prior for abreu and santana in late may or so santana was struggling and prior was looking to come back soon......

Bad: trading rolen for chavez(about a week before he got hurt) and zito(thought he would turn it around) :~(

Good moves: I was offered Vicente Padilla for Milton Bradley about 2 weeks before Padilla missed all that time off. I countered that offer for Bradley with Oliver Perez instead of Padilla. He accepted.
I also traded Joe Crede for Craig Wilson before the season started.

Bad move: Dropped Woody Williams instead of Hideo Nomo, who I drafted in the 5th round.

Bad Move: Drafting Carlos Beltran with the 5th overall pick.

Worst move ever: Drafting Jason Johnson ahead of Oliver Perez.

I love O. Perez, I didn't know he was available. I was all but :~( as soon as I found out he was still on the market-and gone before the next round. :-[ :-/ :~(
