He believes that Santana will eventually break down, and should be traded for offense if theres still time. What do you all think?

I hate pure speculation about a players health.Santana's a stud, leave it at that!there is no reason to believe he will break down.

sure there is a REASON ...

maybe it isn't a particularly compelling one, but the thought does have merit.

He is entering virgin terrirory in innings pitched. It hink that guy had a corrollary to the argument that basically he is about as perfect as it gets right now. The smart money is that he won't keep it up at quite this level.

I can see and understand that.

But when people hear "he won't keep it up" they panick. He may not keep it up to what he is, but he will "keep it up" in that he is still an ultra elite pitcher.

Dumb piece of advice -- as how can you say that without seeing both the standings and roster distribution in the league.

I don't think blanket statments are that useful like that.

I don't by into the breaking down part of the argument...but you can never really predict health (exept with Griffy... :-b )....but will Santana keep pitching the way he has the last two months...I doubt it...but from where he has been, even with a little slide down, he is still very good... :-)

If you decide to trade him...I would try and get more than value for him... :-)

I am certainly HOPING that he keeps it up. I'm doing major finger crossing, etc. IF he had a 'problem' in his arm before though, and if it was corrected through surgery, me may actually be a new, improved Santana. Perhaps the struggles at the start of the year were him getting used to his new arm.

As others have said...I would be more worried about it if he wasn't pitching lights-out right now. He's pitching better than ever, so why worry now? If he has back-to-back bad starts in the near future, then I guess I'd be slightly worried, but now I'm not worried at all. And yes, I realize that if he does have back-to-back bad starts, his trade value will go down, so I see his point in writing the article, but that is a chance I'm willing to take.

I agree with Rirruto, Johan may have a breakdown next year if anything. I don't see how one could expect Santana to simply fall apart. A slight decline is what to expect, don't take too much of this to heart.
