yes, absolutely. people are rightfully scared off a bit by peavy's WHIP (potentially indicative of a soon-to-be-ballooning ERA) but you also have to consider the other angle which shows he is able to get himself out of jams....I think he will be mighty nice for the 2nd half.

I like the order you have them in right now.

And it isn't an ability to get out of jams that allows him to have such a high WHIP while allowing so few runs; it's the fact that he's giving up a LOT less HR's this year. I don't see a reason for that to continue, or at least not at as low a rate as they're happening now....... I think he'll be over-rated by a lot of people. I think his ERA will be above 4 for the rest of the season, meaning his end of the season ERA will be around 3.34. The funny thing is, if he finishes with an ERA even close to 3.34 everybody will think he had an awesome year, when it was actually a good streak at the start of the season and his 2002/2003 mediocrity in the second half.

I've been to about 20 games this year at Petco Park, and I see absolutely no reason for him NOT to continue giving up HRs.

The park is right near the SanDiego bay, and when the winds swirl, nobody is hitting one out...

It's not just the park......... he's given up 2 HR at home and 2 on the road so far. I expect nothing better than a 4.00 ERA post AS break.
