Best Move You Have Made This Year

Picked these guys up off waivers:
- Johnny Estrada
- Michael Young
- Vinny Castilla
- Steve Finley
- Melvin Mora
- Ken Griffey Jr.
- Chris Carpenter
- Victor Zambrano
- Francisco Rodriguez

I also traded Pettite for Carlos Delgado straight up, but that hasn't paid off yet. Hopefully Delgado will have a monster second half.

I made sure that I backed up Dotel with Lidge when doing my NL only auction. Now I have Beltran and Lidge.

In my Roto League 12 Teams 5X5 Cat.

three weeks into the season:

I got : Jim Thome (after big slump at start) & Joel Pineiro
I gave: Matt Morris

I got: Andy Petitte
I gave: Vinny Castilla (when he was AL player of week)

I drafted Joe Nathan (19th Rd)
I got Eric Milton off Waivers
I got Danny Graves off Waivers

as a side note, I even got David Ortiz sitting on my bench, cause I got Helton, & Thome already at 1st base lol.

In my H2H league 12 Teams 6X6Cat.
I drafted:
Melvin Mora 19th Round
Danny Graves 21st Round
Sean Casey 24th Round
Eric Milton 25th Round

I got Paul Wilson, Juan Uribe, Trot Nixon off waivers.

Sure some of it was pure luck and help from the Cafe, but I'm 11.5 games ahead in H2H & 23.5 pts ahead in Roto ;-D

Traded for Clemens, Sheets

Postby tradegriffeyjr. » Wed Jul 14, 2004 9:39 pm

Back in March, I dealt away Brandon Webb and Josh Beckett for Roger Clemens and Ben Sheets. I knew Clemens would give NL hitters fits and thought Sheets would have a career year. Hard to tell who's been better between the two of them. They've got in first place in the pitching categories and in the league overall.
If only the Reds had re-signed Mike Cameron in 2000 and left Junior Sleepless in Seattle with all the death threats.

A lot of good pickups...Victor Martinez, Johnny Estrada, Travis Hafner, Chone Figgins, Jaret Wright and Nate Robertson, to name a few. Also, back on May 10th, I traded Ponson and Varitek for Kip Wells and Jeff Weaver. Not bad.

I drafted pretty poorly in retrospect (lots of injuries and gambles in the late rounds that didn't pan out)

But through a few trades in am in 1st place in my 12 team, 6x6, Roto, Money league.

Trade #1

Gave: B. Roberts (when hot)

Got: L. Castillo (when cold)

Trade #2

Gave: Castillo and Varitek

Got: Crawford and Riske

Trade #3

Gave: T. Hunter

Got Vidro (when cold)

I drafted Adrian Beltre in the last round in all of my 5 leagues. Picking up Dye was good, picking up Teixeira in 2 leagues when he got dropped also good.

The best thing that happened for me this year:

While I was on vacation for a weekend, someone dropped Delgado. Nobody picked him up off of waivers, and this is one of those Yahoo competitive leagues. So I picked him up.

My catcher strategy was to go with Jason Philips this year, but that didnt work out. Luckily, Victor Martinez was available in every league.

probably the best 1 for 1 deal on this thread...

Chipper Jones -Straight Up For- Bobby Abreu

i did this trade early in the season and it worked out lovely!

i also traded wagner for maggs preseason and it seemed like another genious move when maggs was crushing and wagner was hurt, but now its more even... but i ripped graves off WW anyways
