Stand pat or deal for a Sp ?

Postby titanut » Sat Apr 12, 2003 7:52 pm

I traded Mulder for Berkman and am a little weak at sp.
12 team 5 x 5 roto.
I feel this lineup will produce 50 pts on offense. Will my pitchers
produce 30 pts- I assume 80 pts has me in the hunt to win.
Posada, Helton, Kent, Renteria, Fonz. Sheff, Pierre, Berkman
and Matsui. Util B Wilkerson, If Castillio. Bench, T Hunter, Beltre,
F Thomas.
K Wood, Hudson, Tomko, J Jennings, Fossum, Santana
Mantei, Looper, Villafuerte, L Carter.
My plan is to wait until T Hunter gets going and trade him for
a sp like Morris, Colon or Millwood.

I like the plan but I wouldn't trade a Morris/Millwood type for Torii Hunter personally. You have a couple of anchors for your staff but after that your rotation is weak. I'd try to do a trade or two of package deals to upgrade.Right now I'd try to trade Castillo & Hunter(like you said after they both hit a little) and one of your last four pitchers in two for one deals. Your bullpen is suspect but in a 12 team league you should do all right, at least in the top half of the league.Make sure you get value for Castillo & Hunter , don't make the trade just to improve your staff for the short term if it means you degrade your lineup in the long run. fwiw
