The Yankees won't sign Magglio unless they plan to play him in center. They have Sheffield under contract until 2006 and Matsui under contract until 2005. Both have no-trade clauses. They also have Williams through 2006 and Lofton through 2005. Both of those guys will be tough to trade unless they just give them away which is a possibility. So they don't even have room for Beltran although I doubt that will stop them from signing him.
Umm they have a 40-man roster to contend with. It's not like either of these guys can be optioned.ocmusicjunkie wrote:Bernie is old and playing with a bum knee.
