RJ prefers Yanks! Maybe Clemens too!

the thing is, RJ is a 10/5 guy - so it doesn't matter what the DBacks want - it's all about what RANDY wants. It isn't really up to Colangelo. RJ can pretty much write his own ticket and Colangelo isn't going to try to trade him somewhere he doesn't want to go, because RJ will veto the deal

Randy wants to win 300 games. He's skeptical whether or not he can acheive that w/Anaheim - but he KNOWS he can do it in NY.

This is getting more and more interesting, and I have a feeling RJ will be on a different team after the ASB.

Well, before everybody starts bashing the NY Media, the ProJo is reporting the same thing! 8-o

LINK: Johnson rumors concern the Sox

BOSTON -- Despite widespread speculation that Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Randy Johnson would refuse to waive his no-trade clause and accept a deal to an East Coast-based team, several baseball sources familiar with Johnson's thinking say the All-Star's "clear preference" is to be dealt to the New York Yankees.

Wow... "clear preference"... HOLY COW! O:-)

All a 10-and-5 player means is you have a built-in no-trade clause in any contract. This is a moot point because RJ already had a no-trade clause before he became a 10-and-5 with Arizona.

It has everything to do with what Arizona wants. RJ cannot force a trade, he's bound this year and next. The ONLY power he has is the ability to veto any trade. So I'd say the power is 50/50.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Right, BUT - even if Colnego wanted to do a deal with Anaheim since they have more prospects, RJ would just veto it anyway (assuming the NY rumors are true). So Colnego would be an idiot to not even consider getting what he can from NY for RJ.

The chips really ARE in RJs hands - not Colnego's.

RJ is Arizona's main source of revenue. So unless Arizona receives an offer too good to pass up and one RJ agrees to, I don't see it happening.

The only people who think Navarro and Contreras are a good package are the NY media. Realistically that package for RJ is a joke IMO.

yes, but considering Colnego's trade history (Schilling for Fossum, a bag of baseballs, and an open bag of Davids)...who knows?
