Who is the best of these bunch of scrub hurlers?

Postby zpalm » Thu Jun 20, 2002 8:51 pm

I am in a tight 21 team nl only league and i need someone that won't kill my ERA, Whip and will get a few wins.
Scoring is 5x5 except K-bb.

1. Jamey Wright (Mil) has been horrible.

2. M. Yoshii (Mon) has looked good lately especially in his outing tonight but will he remain a starter?

3. D Smith (Mon) recent callup. He had a 3.24 era in AAA with a (1.06 whip) and 61 K's and only 18 bb's in 83 IP. But he is unproven and in 1999 he gave up 12 hr's in only 89 IP's with Montreal.

4. J. Cabrera (Mil) Looked great last start, can he move from a reliever to starter?

5. G. Stechschulte (Stl) Not a starter but has 6 win's. he could get a bunch more garbage wins.

Of those five, I'd take a flyer on Cabrera if you need to use up innings (he has the potential; we'll see what he does with it); if innings are tight, go with Stechschulte and hope for a few wins. His k-bb value is pretty weak for a middle reliever, however.

21 team NL only? Now that's deep! 8-o In a league like that, any of those guys (except for Wright) will have value.
