What's everyone's takes on this guy? The most thing I'm curious about is if he's going to hit for .326 average again this year. I know he's a switch hitter and hits well for average but this season, he's not been hitting for average at all. How will this season's numbers compare to last years? Also, will he not get full time job at 3b this year?
I would get ready to abandon ship. He was supposed to find out more info about his knee either today or tomorrow after getting a second opinion because it was still bothering him. If he finds out bad news and needs surgery, I wouldn't even waste a DL spot on him if he's out more than 4-6 weeks. I am convinced last year was a fluke...and there should be at least decent 3B options unless it's a really deep league (obviously don't drop him in those leagues). But if you can find a viable replacement like Pedro Feliz or someone along those lines, dump him.
I took him late expecting around .290 with pretty decent runs and rbi numbers, but with him only hitting .262, Youkilis up and doing well, and the injury, I cut Mueller loose. I just don't have a good feeling about the whole situation.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
Bill Mueller will have arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Friday to help relieve symptoms of an arthritic condition. He's expected to miss six weeks.
The Red Sox will keep using Kevin Youkilis at third base for now. When Nomar Garciaparra returns, they can shift Mark Bellhorn to third and play Pokey Reese at second, but that probably won't happen if Youkilis produces. Andy Dominique will be called up from Triple-A to take Mueller's roster spot.
