Hey Pittsburgh, any inside skinny on Raul Mondesi?

...any signs of whether or not he's coming back?

I drafted him in a deep NL-Only league along with P. Wilson and G. Anderson. So as you can guess, I'm not doing well in that league and would really like to see Raul straighten himself out and re-join the Pirates. Thanks.

Not from the Burgh but last I heard he is staying in the Dominican and the Pirates aren't too broken up about it. Unless the suit against him gets settled quick I don't think he will be back.

It was reported earlier that he would be leaving the team for the rest of the season, but who knows how it stands now. I could care less, as Craig Wilson can be an every day starter now.

Last I heard, he wasn't going to play the rest of the year. Since the Pirates have been so quiet about it, I'd say he probably won't be back. Tough to say for sure though.

There has been talk about Mondesi coming back although all the Raul quotes in the papers are ambiguous.

May 15 Pirates GM Dave Littlefield told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review he has reached a "resolution" with representatives for Raul Mondesi (OF) Pit and it's possible that Mondesi might rejoin the Pirates next week. It's also possible that Mondesi would be released and therefore set free to sign with another team.

May 17 The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Pirates hope to have the Raul Mondesi (OF) Pit situation resolved by tomorrow. Mondesi will likely either return to the Pirates or be released - in which case he would be free to sign with another club.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
