As much as I love Oswalt my money would be on Wood for the Cy. His K numbers are just ridiculous and he has better name recognition. Wins, always an overrated stat in grading pitchers, could be the deciding factor.
Why did you make this thread? Oz just gave up a hit and nailed somebody in the head...
Yes, I was, uh... I was thinking about ordering the tape, the videotape... about the college girls and the... the wild... the wildness. They're going wild or something? Somebody told me... about going wild.
the problem with Wood is that he always has a game or two each year where he gives up 5+ walks in a game. These are the games that bring his numbers back down to earth a little. The only thing standing in Oswalt's way is his health, which is always on the mind of his owner's. This may be the season he finally shows his true potential and gets more than 20 wins.
There was once a man who threw really hard. He had a little bit of a control problem. Just like Kerry Wood. He was also from Texas, just like Kerry Wood. That man is one of the best pitchers of all time. That mans name is Nolan Ryan. Woods control problems shrink every outing, and he looks more and more dominant. Look for Wood to be talked about as one of the best pitchers of all time 20 years from now. (And yes I just compared Wood to Nolan Ryan)
jimini williams really needs to learn when to take his pitchers out. The first walk should have been the clue there. after all, doesn't houston have a *goooood* bull-pen?
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll drown because you forgot to teach him to swim.
