Apr 29 The news keeps getting worse for injured Giants closer Robb Nen. In need of another roster spot due to other injuries, the team transferred Nen from the 15- to the 60-day disabled list on Wednesday, retroactive to March 26. He has undergone three surgeries on his right shoulder since his last major-league appearance back in October of 2002. Nen has not thrown from a mound since last week and is still experiencing discomfort in the back of his shoulder. "It's going to help the team right now," Nen said. "They need somebody right now and I'm not helping. I don't know, it seems we get close and then start slowing down." The three-time All-Star has not ruled out returning this season, despite the continuing problems with his shoulder. "I don't know what else to say," Nen added. "I feel like a moron right now. I feel helpless."
Views: Things are looking quite bleak for Nen. Those fantasy owners who grabbed Matt Herges with the thinking that he would be a temporary closer while Nen recovers can now start thinking more long-term.
