(Sports Network) - The Diamondbacks will go in search of their first three- game sweep since August 5-7, 2003 tonight, when they finish up a home set with the Chicago Cubs at Bank One Ballpark.
Arizona's hasn't posted a three-game whitewash since taking a trio of games from Montreal last season at Bank One Ballpark. The Diamondbacks' last sweep of the Cubs came from Aug. 17-19, 2001 at the BOB.
Heading to the hill for the Diamondbacks will be 23-year-old righthander Casey Daigle. Daigle is winless (0-1) in three starts this season, including a no- decision against San Diego last week. The rookie surrendered four hits and two runs over 6 1/3 innings, while walking three and fanning two.
Daigle will be taking the mound against Chicago for the first time in his career.
Arizona is riding high with three straight wins and five victories in its last six contests. The Diamondbacks are just two under .500 for the first time since April 16.
The Diamondbacks tallied a 10-1 win over the Cubs on Tuesday evening. Chad Tracy finished with three hits and three RBI, including his first career home run, to pace Arizona's offensive attack. Luis Gonzalez belted a three-run homer, while Danny Bautista and Alex Cintron posted two hits apiece.
The Diamondbacks have scored 31 runs in their last three games.
Brandon Webb pitched seven scoreless innings for the win, yielding just four hits and three walks with five strikeouts. Webb (2-1) is the second Arizona starter in as many nights to go seven innings against the Cubs.
Chicago won four of six meetings between these teams last season, including two of three at Bank One Ballpark. The Diamondbacks own a slight 8-6 edge in this series since the start of the 2002 campaign.
