(Sports Network) - The St. Louis Cardinals resume a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies tonight at Busch Stadium.

The Cardinals lost 7-3 last night. Edgar Renteria had a two-run homer for the Cardinals, who have dropped three of four. Matt Morris (3-2) took the loss, surrendering five runs on seven hits and four walks over six frames. He fanned four.

The Cardinals will go with Jason Marquis on the hill this evening. The 25-year-old righthander makes his fifth start of the season. He is unbeaten (1-0) over his last three outings and threw 6 2/3 scoreless innings last Thursday at Houston before allowing a run in a no-decision.

Marquis is 2-1 with a 4.42 ERA in 12 career appearances (5 starts) against the Phillies.

Tony La Russa is one victory shy of 700 as manager of the Cardinals.

Cardinals third baseman Scott Rolen has 27 RBI this season, which is the highest monthly RBI total of his career. His 27 April RBI are five shy of Mark McGwire's club record of 32 (1998). Rolen is also hitting .419 (18-for-43) in his career against the Phillies, a team he spent the first 6 1/2 seasons of his career with.
