Postby WebHamster » Tue Apr 27, 2004 7:00 pm

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - The Boston Red Sox called up Brian Daubach from Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday.

Daubach will take the place of Ellis Burks, who was placed on the DL Monday and underwent arthroscopic surgery on his injured left knee Tuesday.

Daubach, who has often served as a designated hitter, was 0-for-1 with a walk in two pinch-hitting appearances with the Red Sox earlier this season.

After a disappointing 2003 campaign in Chicago, where he just.230 with six home runs and 21 RBI in only 183 at-bats, Daubach was released by the White Sox.

For his career, Daubach has a .262 batting average with 90 home runs and 322 RBI with three teams in his six big league seasons.
