Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - An MRI exam on Oakland Athletics starting shortstop Bobby Crosby's left knee Wednesday confirmed a bruise.
Crosby, who left Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Seattle with the injury, could return to action as soon this weekend. He had returned to Oakland for the MRI, which revealed mostly swelling.
Crosby suffered the injury in the second inning when he collided with teammate Bobby Kielty on a pop up by Scott Spiezio. Crosby made the catch for the first out and remained in the game until being lifted in the fourth.
He finished the game 0-for-2, taking an at-bat in the third before leaving. For the season, Crosby is batting only .196 with two homers and nine RBI.
