How does yahoo! come up with its rank for every player?

I don't know, but it's pretty funny to see all the scrub shortstops currently ranked ahead of Alex Rodriguez. How long can that last?

i believe it is deterimined by the numbers the players put up in the standard five cats

Just leave it at the rankings stink, and don't use them. ;-)

To clarify, Yahoo O-Rankings are worthless. Their other rankings simply show who is having the best season and are in fact somewhat useful. I don't know exactly how the calculate either rankings though.

I like when my opponents pay attention to them.

Vlad was ranked #42 overall pre-draft. Got him in the late second round because I'm sure everyone missed him.
