Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Sammy Sosa hit his 512th homer in a Cubs uniform, moving into a tie with Ernie Banks for first place on the all-time franchise list.
Sosa's second homer of the season came in the bottom of the ninth inning of Friday's 11-10 win over Cincinnati. He smashed his homer to right field off Danny Graves to tie the game at 10-10.
In his 13th season with the Cubs, Sosa has 541 career homers, moving him within eight of passing Mike Schmidt for ninth place on baseball's all-time list.
The 35-year-old Sosa has racked up incredible offensive numbers in his career. Last year he became the first player in National League history to put together nine straight 100-RBI seasons.
Sosa also became the first NL player to hit 40 homers in six consecutive seasons and just the third player in major league history to have nine consecutive 35-homer/100-RBI campaigns, joining Jimmie Foxx (1932-1940) and Rafael Palmeiro (1995-current).
Banks, nicknamed Mr. Cub, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1977. He played for Chicago from 1953-71.
