draft advice

Postby shmity72 » Tue Jan 22, 2019 5:05 pm

hi,

i've been in a h2h fantasy baseball team with family for over 15 years.
this is the first year we're doing a dynasty league and my one keeper is nola.

i'm interested in seeing how this years draft is going to go. my reasoning for early round picks is that ace pitchers will be very thin but stud hitters will be available.

i think i may go with a machado or some such early rounds. maybe one or 2 hitters 1st 2nd round then take a run on pitchers for a good 5 or 6 rounds.

thoughts?

"then take a run on pitchers for a good 5 or 6 rounds."
I certainly wouldn't take that many pitchers that early. I'm all for having enough pitching but you'd only have 2 hitters after 7 rounds and you need much more balance than that. Especially for the top 100 players, you need to just about keep taking the best player available. Unless your format really favors pitchers, I'd want 7 of the first 10 players to be hitters

strike outs went up from .5 to -1.0..so those that took power hitters early didn't do well. i've always been one for taking 1 or 2 top tier middle infielders early, because of the drop off.and one of my 3 OF.

but i agree. best available is how i usually draft as well.

thanks for your response, ~jason
