Danny Valencia or J. Ho Kang WHIR

Postby birdbrains » Sun Jul 10, 2016 12:29 pm

I was offered J Ho Kang of the Pirates for Danny Valencia of Oakland
Should I accept...
I am in 4th, he is in 3rd

I think Kang is a keeper and has the greater upside
BUT my concerns are
---who will be better the 2nd half of this year since I am competing for a playoff spot
---and the recent legal issues Kang is dealing with , will it affect his performace, could he face a suspension if guilty

18 team keepers league...keep 10 players h2h

Valencia's a solid player. I like him a lot and have him in a couple leagues. But, with his age, splits, and all, he is a finished product with very little upside. Kang is a very intriguing player, warts and all, and I think I'd take the risk here. I'm an upside junky and don't think moving Valencia is too risky at all.

(Thanks for the two thoughts on mine!)

Like Zephyr said, Kang has more upside long term. So, the question is, are you trying to win now or eyeing the future? Based on what you said in your post, you're looking for results the 2nd half of the season. If that is the case, I'd go with Valencia. He's the better player now. And, it's possible he gets traded to a contender, which could bump his value as well.

I'd stick with Valencia. Might be the most productive hitter per AB of the past 3 seasons. Check the stats.
