d'Arnaud/Brantley/McCullers for Trumbo/Morales/Story

Postby KleShreen » Tue Jul 05, 2016 6:39 pm

That is the offer on the table from a guy in my keeper league. 16 teams, 30-man rosters, keep 20 each year, deep league.

I am considering it because I need a catcher upgrade in a bad way. Here is my current team:

C: James McCann
1B: Kendrys Morales
2B: Scooter Gennett
3B: Nick Castellanos
SS: Trevor Story
LF: Mark Trumbo
CF: George Springer
RF: Carlos Gonzalez
OF: Gregory Polanco
Util: Carlos Santana
Util: Alcides Escobar
Util: Jhonny Peralta
Util: Adam Lind
Util: Nick Markakis
DL: Dexter Fowler
NA: Brendan Rodgers

SP: Jeff Samardzija
SP: Jaime Garcia
SP: Sonny Gray
SP: Justin Verlander
SP: Wei-Yin Chen
RP: Mark Melancon
RP: Blake Treinen
RP: Shawn Kelley
RP: Jake Diekman
RP: Hector Rondon
P: Ryan Buchter
BN: Mike Fiers
BN: Doug Fister
BN: Jimmy Nelson
BN: Daniel Norris
BN: Robert Stephenson
DL: Alex Wood
DL: Keone Kela

Scoring for Hitters: R, 1B, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, BB, K, AVG, OPS
Scoring for Pitchers: W, L, CG, SV, H, BB, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP, K/9

If I pulled the trigger, I'd obviously have an upgrade at C for now and the future, my SP would improve pretty well for the year and future, but I'd be a dearth of talent at SS and 1B.

He also offered me just d'Arnaud for Trumbo, which I am more inclined to take, but wanted to see if I was missing something here.

I would say I'll help in return, but I probably won't. I come here when I get an interesting trade offer and that's about it. I just like the knowledge here.

I think you are giving up too much power there. Story and Morales (hottest hitter in bball currently) should yield more. Trumbo is also having his best season in a while.
Now d'Arnaud for Trumbo is a fairer trade but again I'd be concerned about d'Arnaud's injury history. Probably wouldn't do it.

d'Arnaud for Trumbo makes some sense.

Brantley's great, if/when healthy. And I'd happily swap him for Morales, I think.

Story and McCullers is tough. Story could be huge with his age, power, ballpark. But, I love McCullers' upside, too.

Man...I'd try to do d'Arnaud and Brantley or d'Arnaud and McCullers for Trumbo/Morales, if possible. Try to hold onto Story, if you can.

I would not do it because I don't trust d'Arnaud simply because of his long injury history.

The way Trumbo is smashing the ball right now I don't think I'd be trading him anywhere. Wow!
