Not too happy about my draft. What do you think? WHIR

Postby dukefan » Thu Apr 02, 2015 12:39 pm

Pretty underwhelmed about my auction draft results. I feel that my team is pretty balanced but lacks in star power which is I think is why I feel the way I do. Lmk what you think

12 team keeper league (we keep 5 based on the average of what they were drafted for and what they are projected to cost the next year.)

H2H Most Categories 7x7:
Batting Average (AVG), Home Runs (HR), Runs Scored (R), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Slugging Pct (SLG), Strikeouts (K)
Earned Run Average (ERA), Strikeouts (K), Walks plus Hits Per Innings Pitched (WHIP), Wins (W), Saves (SV), Quality Starts (QS), Innings Pitched (IP)

Where do you think I can improve both in categories and in positions? I appreciate any feedback.

My value picks:
*I got Jose Fernandez for only $16 so next year if he returns to form he'll be kept for a bargain price.
Got Brantley for only $28, Puig for $34, and Stausburg for $25. Those 4 will probably be my keepers next year with an open tryout for the last spot.

It'd be my educated guess that most leagues are won with teams that look boring (that's good for you), about the only thing that I would do now is move Odor for another SP since you'll be lacking Fernandez for at least 1/2 a season.

Assuming you have a DL spot, when you open up a roster spot and add another SP I'll really like it. I love Holland on your bench. I am much higher on him than others. Your offense has depth and you have a nice statistical mix. Having injured players like Jansen/Pence/Fernandez will require some patience and maybe some activity early, but I'm guessing you got good value on them and they'll be great when you need them most, the postseason. I have some concerns about your closers, but in a league with more categories than the standard 5x5, if you end up struggling in saves you'll be fine.

We have 2 DL spots that I will place Fernandez on and one other player.

Honestly don't love your infield. You need Pujols to ace this season. Might be a good idea to trade some pitching for offense. With one more hitting piece I think you'll be alright.

Here's mine. Thanks!

I agree with the previous guy about your infield. One player I've targeted that you can get for cheap is Pedro Alvarez, I think he would be a good add for your team. I Would be a little nervous about your OF, Pence is hurt and I just saw that Puig left game today after running into wall. Maybe package an area of depth for Betts if he's available? Also, I'm big on Holland this year too, overall, nice roster. Good luck!

Help with mine?
