2015 Money League Team!!! (WHIR)

Postby X-Factor611 » Sat Mar 21, 2015 10:32 am

So for the past 2 seasons I've finished tied for 3rd and in the money.
The League is a standard 5x5 Roto League through CBS
How do I look?

C. Mike Zunino (SEA)
1b. Anthony Rizzo (CHC)
MI. Ian Kinsler (DET)
MI. Danny Santana (MIN)
3b. Matt Carpenter (STL)
OF. Mike Trout (LAA)
OF. Jorge Soler (CHC)
OF. Khris Davis (MIL)
DH. Manny Machado (BAL)
BN. Derek Norris (SD)
BN. Brett Lawrie (OAK)
BN. Wil Myers (SD)
BN. Austin Jackson (SEA)
BN. Adam Eaton (CHW)

SP. Jon Lester (CHC)
SP. Matt Harvey (NYM)
SP. Michael Pineda (NYY)
RP. Dellin Betances (NYY)
RP. Joaquin Benoit (SD)
BN. Kyle Lohse (MIL)
BN. Chris Tillman (BAL)
BN. Kevin Gausman (BAL)
BN. Dallas Keuchel (HOU)
BN. Ivan Nova (NYY)

my closers are a little weak, but i feel they have potential.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

First I'll say I like this team a lot. The entire starting pitching staff has potential to be plus starters if not already. The only question marks I'd put are on your catchers, but moreso one without the other, and Austin Jackson, who seems to still be on the wrong side of potential. Brett Lawrie will play 110 games, but it will be a very productive 110 games. And again, love that pitching staff.

Appreciate your thoughts if you don't mind sharing

Very good pitching staff as long as everyone stays healthy and pitches to their potential. You'll have to watch out for the NYY closer situation with Andrew Miller still not out of the running. How many teams are in the league?

I like this team. It has a lot of upside built in, and that's how you win leagues- by getting 3rd rounders at a 10th round price. You have several players with that potential. Possibly almost too many. I don't THINK this will happen, but you could see a scenario where Myers, Eaton, Soler and Lawrie are all underperformers. The good news is you do have Trout as the ultimate anchor. Keep an eye out for a solid "Raul Ibanez All Star" as backup against this. Someone like Michael Cuddyer, whom isn't sexy at all but can be Mr. Reliable when your upside guys are having a rough stretch.

That staff is killer though- love the K potential.

take a look at mine if you get a chance: viewtopic.php?t=490855

It's a solid roster. I actually like Gausman more than I like Tillman. I'm not a huge fan of Nova and would be curious to know who's on the wire. I'd swap him out for, in order, Jesse Hahn/A.J. Burnett/Jason Hammel/T.J. House/Kyle Gibson among starters who I imagine might be available.

I like the Zunino pick because it help make up for lack of power elsewhere (Santana/Carpenter/Jackson/Eaton)
I expect Soler and Machado to significantly exceed their ADP, so I like those picks.
Rizzo/Trout is a very solid foundation and I like that you've peppered in high upside guys to compliment them.

Pitching should be quite formidable. I predict Harvey will have a better year than Lester and emerge as your true #1. Pineda is a WHIP machine and Lohse is a lot better than people realize. Also I'm sold on Betances earning the closing gig and being lights out.

Overall, nice squad. I wouldn't be excited to play you in a H2H matchup.

So I wound up winning my league...and it wasn't even close!

2nd place was 14 points behind me.
I set the league record for highest point total in a season.
