I'm an avid Braves fan, but I'm afraid I can't make a case for Hampton. I attended his start the other night, and his pitches looked very much like batting practice. Any pitch that he was able to throw for a strike was really fat.
Also, you've got to remember that he's probably not going to get the run support that he got when he had Sheffield-Lopez-Castilla hitting for him. The Braves offense has been mostly OK so far, but I don't think Braves SP's better count on many timely 3-run HRs to bail them out very often anymore.
And then again, maybe he's just getting off to a slow start. But my feeling about him this year is not a good one.
