ROS: Drop Rizzo for Betts, Pearce? WHIR

Postby lyons595 » Wed Sep 03, 2014 3:54 pm

Hey all,
I have Rizzo who likely isnt playing more than a week for the ROS if he's lucky. He is holding a roster spot that I may need if my other OF are not playing everyday. I need a roster spot for streaming SP, so having a dead spot could hurt me in the playoffs starting last week. The FA/WW options are:
Betts, Pearce, Crawford, Baez, Crisp, Vogt, Myers, Plouffe, Chisenahll and some other junk.

I already grabbed Betts for the next 3 days as I only need a SP for Sunday. Should I drop Rizzo? Is he going to hurt me if he comes back the last week fo the season?

H2H each cat, 12 team, 4 RP max, daily roster changes. Cats: standard 5x5 plus OPS, QS. Redraft league. I stream 1-3 SP (or starts) weekly.

C Yadier Molina
1B Jose Bautista
2B Jose Altuve
3B Adrian Beltre
SS Ian Desmond
OF Mike Trout
OF Drew Stubbs (kinda streaming OF here)
OF Jay Bruce
UTIL Jhonny Peralta
Bench Mookie Betts

SP Stephen Strasburg, Mat Latos, Alex Cobb, Streamer
RP Craig Kimbrel
RP Casey Janssen
RP Joe Nathan
RP Fernando Rodney
DL Masahiro Tanaka

I would not drop Rizzo unless the Cubs announce he is out for the year. I might consider it now only if my team was in a bind and I don't have a decent replacement.

Help with mine?

You need to do what you can to win every week. If you hold onto Rizzo, and you lose, there was no point. Fantasy can be a lot of luck. It might turn out you didn't even need him the Championship week. But if you don't get there, you'll never no. So drop him if it looks like you need to.

I'd drop him. It's a redraft and you need players who will be playing down the stretch and he won't be playing.

please help

Just dropped Rizzo for Pearce. Had to take the advice that a guy who is the lineup is much more useful than a star rotting on the bench.
I plan on using Pearce in place of Bruce on most days and/or as my UTIL player based on matchups. Thanks gents.

Assuming Rizzo is out for most of Sept, I probably would have gone with Crisp unless Hrs is your primary concern. Pierce is Jekyll and Hyde...either on fire or does absolutely nothing.
