Jose Bautista on waivers

Postby MadDog36 » Mon Sep 01, 2014 10:00 pm

In my salary league (the only 1 I do) Jose Bautista has hit waivers (he would cost 20 bucks next year) on the last year of his deal. I could surely use the power and the OF upgrade. I currently have two free spots because of DL. Been very fortunate this year with some of my one dollar fliers.
(cost for next year)
C-Evan Gattis (5)
C-Devin Mesoraco (1)
1b-A. Rizzo (only one buck for next year...!!!)-I dealt a one buck Teheran and 5 buck Morneau for him earlier in the year and I feel like a million bucks for it!)
2b-Javier Baez (only one buck also since he was NA)
3b-Evan Longoria (15)
SS-Alcides Escobar (7)
MI-Josh Harrison (1)
CI-Casey MacGahee (3)
OF-Billy Hamilton (1), Jarrod Dyson (1), Ben Revere (1), Seth Smith (1), Jorge Soler (1)
BENCH:
2b/SS Dee Gordon (11)
SS/3b Hanley Ramirez (16)
1b/OF Corey Hart (5)
NA - EMPTY NOW
DL-Paul Goldschmidt (22)
DL-Carlos Gonzalez (18)
DL-Going to be Hanley when they DL him.

SP
Madison Bumgarner (21)
Phillip Hughes (5)
David Price (23)
Sonny Gray (1)
Jered Weaver (12)
Hishasi Iwakuma (8)
Ian Kennedy (1)
Jason Vargas (1)

RP
Craig Kimbrel (15)
Francisco Rodriguez (1)
Jenrry Mejia (1)
Zach Britton (1)

-Hart + Joey Bats = 299 of 300 budget. I'd probably keep all the above minus Mejia and Hanley so I'd have some room to pick up some N/A fliers and a more reliable closer. This would leave me around 10 to bid on a closer and about 5-6 to fill 3 N/A 1 buck fliers and one bench bat on the cheap.

There isn't a limit on how many keepers we can have so long as we stay in budget.

What I would do is dump Corey Hart for him and after that transaction I'd be exactly one dollar under budget (and could keep my entire team as is for next year) considering I like all these guys and their values as they are reasonable. I might consider tossing Hanley back to have a little bit of money to bid on some N/A and maybe one bench and one closer (since I don't know if Britton and Mejia will return as a closer next year).

My team will miss the playoffs by one spot so I'm playing to go all-in for next year. After that I'll be losing a lot of my good players on decent contracts to expiring deals. I would only be able to keep 1 franchise batter and pitcher of the expiring contracts after 2015.

I would do it. You're playing for next year. And even if you were over salary cap you can always drop him. you paid nothing for him. You can always trade him also. Yes I woulddo it.thank you but looking at mine

Yea, I would jump on that as well. Gives you a big upgrade for your OF and keeps you within budget.

Easy call...Baustista at $20 is a bargain and the guy cutting him is out of his mind.

I would likely keep Hanley Ramirez at $16 for next year. Not going to get a decent SS for cheaper and Escobar is not trustworthy at all. Guys like Meija and Hart can go.
