Catcher upgrade? Drop Rosario? WHIR

Postby lyons595 » Sat Aug 16, 2014 10:17 am

SCROLL TO THE END OF POST--updated.

Our trade deadline passed yesterday and I almost got Posey. I am a believer in Rosario, but it's getting tough. I'd be happy with the low average if he provided the power I hoped/expected. Should I add any of these guys?

Zunino, d'Arnaud, Montero, Vogt

Why would a 12 team league let Zunino be in FA? He hasn't hit much like Rosario has but his power has been there for sure.

Should I grab him then? His AVG will drag me down, but I have several good AVG guys who can compensate for him.

I would say Montero but he's not playing everyday down the stretch,Vogt the same way so for me both are out.Zunino is good but how much if any is he better than Rosario?I say keep what you have and hopefully Rosario turns it around

Montero and Zunino are effectively a push imo. Zunino gives you more pop, but a crummy avg, Montero will hit for a much better avg, drive in a few more, but has less pop. I would not really worry too much either way and just stick with Montero unless you feel an extra 2-3 homers down the stretch is really go to make that much of a difference.

Just to clarify, I have Rosario now, not Montero. I am leaning toward Rosario through the week as the Rockies have all home games and Wilin has hit (and looked) better the last several days. (He's not trying to pull everything over the fence--letting the ball get deep and hitting line drives to CF and right center.)
Maybe I'll repost this in a week...thanks dudes.

My repost. Vogt was picked up this week, but the others are still available. The Rox play 7 games week, the DBacks only 5. Rosario will not play Monday or Sunday (he never catches Matzek) do he's really down to 5. I think I need to switch...yes or no?

dArnaud has been good for the Mets but I say stick with Rosario he's home for seven games? Roll the dice with him plus he plays all the time the others mostly platoon.

Rosario missed another game, which actually helped me (avoided an 0-4) but I need to make a move.

I grabbed Russell Martin for tomorrow. My team needs the Avg boost. However, there are still other options, specifically d'Arnaud (free agent now) and Vogt (comes off waivers Tuesday).

My head to get Vogt ASAP and roll with him for a while. But the A's just acquired Soto (for a reason) and Gentry just came off the DL. I'm worried that Vogt may be a platoon player (at most) and mY only actually play 2-4 games per week. Thoughts? I have 1 more week of regular season, then 3 weeks of playoffs.
