Who are the coolest players in the MLB

Postby rjforlife » Mon Jun 09, 2014 2:49 pm

I am starting a T-Shirt Jersey collection, or I should say I am completing a collection that currently consists of: Chris Sale, Edwin Encarnacion, Adam Jones, and Giancarlo Stanton. I aim to have at least one player from each team by the end of 2015 (They can be pricey sometimes so I have to spread it out and keep the old lady happy.) I am just looking for good players or cool players or just likeable guys. Here is my list of probable for the remaining teams, I would love to hear input from others. I'd like to get current players that will also stay with their teams for the time being, although that isn't really a deal-breaker since I'll have these for long past retirement for some guys. I realize "coolness" is an odd qualification, I just mean the guy is fun to watch or you'd like to have a few beers with the guy, or you think they will become a superstar, something like that.

These are not up for debate, I have reasons for these:

Cardinals- Wacha
Astros- Springer
Mariners- Felix
Rangers- Darvish

The rest I am totally open to suggestion, some teams I'm really struggling.

Pirates- Cole/McCutchen (McCutchen is probably the guy)
Reds- Cueto/Bailey/Votto/Hamilton/Bruce
Brewers- Gomez/Segura/Lucroy
Cubs- Rizzo/Samardzija (This is hard for me being a Cards fan)

Braves- J-Up/Gattis/Kimbrel/Teheran
Nats- Strasburg/Gio/Harper/Desmond (Heavily leaning towards Strasburg)
Phillies- Howard/Hamels (Blech, the Phillies don't have anyone cool)
Mets- Wheeler/Harvey (Could be a 2015 purchase if Harvey comes back strong)

Padres- Maybin/Cashner/Ross
Giants- Lincecum/Bumgarner/Belt
Rockies- Cargo/Rosario/Blackmon (I don't really love any of these options)
D-Backs- Goldy/Trumbo
Dodgers- Dee/Puig/Scott Van Slyke (He's a personal friend of mine, only reason he's on the list)

Tigers- Scherzer/Cabrera/Hunter
Twins- Arcia/Buxton (Not much starpower here, and I don't care for Mauer)
Indians- Kluber/Kipnis/Salazar (I know I know, but Salazar is still cool)
Royals- Yordano/Hosmer

Yankees- Tanaka/Ellsbury (Not really a fan of anyone here but I need a complete set)
Red Sox- Bogaerts/Middlebrooks/Uehara (I won't really pick anyone that hurt the Cards too badly in the WS)
Rays- Jennings/Archer/Price/Myers/Longoria

Angels- Trout/Calhoun/Frieri
A's- Cespedes/Kazmir/Gray/Moss (Cespedes is a big favorite here)

So let me know what you guys think and have fun with it, explanations are more than welcome. :-)

Molina no question.
As a Cardinal fan I don't think Cueto or any Cub is appropriate.

Yea I know what you mean, but I want one from each team. I can just get them last and leave them in the closet, I don't have to wear them in public.

I have a real Yadier jersey, so I figure I'll go with Wacha for the T-shirt, I have a feeling it could be good for 5-10 years.

Gotta do Gardner for the Yankees. Mets I would do Harvey for sure. Brewers I'd do Braun. Phillies is Utley easily. Nats Strasburg or Harper. Rockies Tulo. Dodgers Puig.

I'm on board with Harvey/Stras/Tulo/Puig.

I added Utley to Philly consideration. Braun is tough to choose with all the steroids BS but I will consider him.

Why Gardner?

Thanks for the list, I like most choices there.

Gardner is one of the few Yankees who are tolerable. He's out-performing Ellsbury for a fraction of the cost, hustles hard, works his ass off, and has a cool underdog vibe about him which is next to impossuble to achieve in pinstripes.
