5/19- 5/25 CHEERING/VENTING & Pitchers Suck

Postby ayebatter » Mon May 19, 2014 10:58 am

Can there be a better way to ruin a league than to include pitching ? I'm all for leagues that only include offense and drop the notion that pitching stats are worth worrying about. :-°

Last week alone lost Fernandez, Wood, and Salazar to the DL, the bullpen, and AAA. Just brutal. And yet had I started Cole instead of Garcia yesterday, I would've snuck out a W I didn't deserve. How do I fantasy baseball?

Today I've got Strasburg and Keuchel toeing the rubber for me. Really need a bounce-back week after dropping consecutive match-ups.

Also, I traded Sin-Shoo Choo for Ervin Santana in my H2H Points League. I'm just not a believer in Choo, despite drafting him for a 2nd consecutive year. Last year I also traded him, on June 18th, along with Ben Zobrist, for Hunter Pence and Matt Holliday, and it worked out great for me. Hopefully I'll be able to say the same, and Santana continues to pitch like he has.

Why oh why do the Twins keep marching Correia out there. He needs to get 'injured' like Pelfrey. !+)

Raise your hand if you thought Dallas Keuchel would be a relevant fantasy pitcher in 2014. *crickets*

This guy has probably been the best add for me this season. I was able to grab him on May 11th, and since then in 2 starts, he's thrown 17.2 innings of 2 run beisbol, striking out 15. Wins could potentially be tough to come by, yet as I type that he's currently 5 - 2. Need to keep rolling this guy out there and hope he doesn't turn into a pumpkin. With a 2.68 xFIP, even better than his ERA, an 8.03 K/9 with a 1.75 BB/9 and a .290 BABIP, this guy is looking legit through 7 weeks. Can't imagine many will be willing to pay for that, so I think the move is not to sell yourself short, and to just keep trotting him out there until he gives you a reason not to.

My rotation that was supposed to lean heavily on Strasburg and Fernandez and Cole and Salazar is now being anchored by Keuchel and Phil Hughes and Jose Quintana and Iwakuma and Hamels off the DL. Gotta love FB.
