Trade JUpton * Always WHIR *

Postby Seanyfever » Sat May 10, 2014 10:54 am

I had an offer on Upton (with Alfredo Simon) for Ben Zobrist (2B/SS/OF) and Casey Janssen (RP). I was lukewarm on that but I am contemplating a counter of asking for Zobrist with Carlos Santana (C, 1B, 3B). I recognize that both Zobrist and Santana are fighting the ball, but isn't that the idea to buy low. However, am I getting enough return for JUpton? I recognize his current value, but I went through this last year. Torrid start and lukewarm the of the year. It is 12 team keeper. It is my final year with him, where you trade him of lose him. I have little doubt I can move him in the next offseason, but this iron seems hot.

I think I may be able to pull a bit of draft pick as well. I simply find that versatility so appealing and again I am buying low on these others.

I GET:
Carlos Santana
Ben Zobrist'

I GIVE:
JUpton
A Simon

Thanks for help with mine! I would prefer the Zobrist/Santana side of the trade. I love JUp, but he runs hot and cold. Of course, you will miss out on his hot streaks if you do this deal. But as I look at your team, do you really need Santana? You have C/1B/3B covered nicely.

I'm not a big fan of Upton. I tend to think he is overrated. very very streaky. Sure he can help when he's hot. But when he's not he can be more harmful. I just don't trust him or his garbage brother. I think if you can get two solid players back and a pick you go for it now before Upton going in a tail spin and you can't get Ryan Raburn for him.
Like the owner that is offering me Santana I think your guy is selling low on him. Zobrist is usually a very steady consistant player. I think he and Santana both come around. I can't say that about Upton.

Thanks for your help with mine.

Don't "need" Santana. He'd be part of complete team and reinforcements. Definitely safe of injuries. Zobrist alone is not enough for Upton. Again... I am not 109% on deal but I want to maximize any return with Upton.

If you can get this trade I would take Zobrist here for sure, not a flashy player but he does the job and his eligibilty always helps and after Simon giving up 2 homers right away tonight he might take this offer away, so I would go for it,

Go for it. Upton can be great but there will be chilly spells. Zobrist is Mr. Reliable and Santana will burst out of his doldrums and give you solid value for years. Plus, as you said, both players' versatility will serve you well. You will have a pretty damn nice roster with that deal!

Do it. I like all the depth have, esp at 1B and C if you can get Santana.
Thanks.

I think at this point Upton has a little more value then what you would be getting, but it is very close and I would be very happy to have both Santana and Zobrist on my squad for the rest of the season. ;-D

I like the trade of JUp, but I would see if you could not get a better haul. Santana I like, but Zobrist is definitely headed in wrong direction

The deal is definitely fair, just don't love Zobrist

Help me?
