Correa, Lindor or Russell who gets the call first?

Postby colt4523 » Thu Apr 24, 2014 10:39 pm

Just wondering which one of these potential stud SS the cafe thinks will get the call first. I think most places I have read think Russell with be the first to get the call. Anyone have any insights?

Russell just tore his hamstring a few weeks ago. I think that will set back his clock a fair bit. I don't think any of those 3 will be called up any time soon, but one you didn't mention - Javier Baez - could be up at some point. He has a terrible 39% K-rate in AAA, but the other two you mentioned haven't done anything above A-ball yet, so I don't know that they're ready either.

I didn't realize Russell tore his hamstring. Yeah that will delay his call up. I do have a feeling that Cleveland will look to trade Acab. If that is the case, Lindor probably would be his replacement.

Does anyone really expect Lindor to be fantasy relevant though?
I think he is going to suffer from Profaritis... big hype, undewhelming and borderline replacement level production

Lindor is the closest of those three. Russell's injury makes it unlikely he'll be up this year. Correa is a year younger than Lindor and hasn't been tested at AA yet. I'd be surprised if Correa was up this year. I expect Lindor to be a Sept callup if everything breaks right for him.
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!

Lindor gets called up first, but he's unlikely to offer much fantasy-wise. Maybe he hits 0.280+ with 15-20 steals. That's about it. He's not going to hit for power and will likely bat toward the bottom half of the order. His prospect stardom is due to his amazing glove, not his bat.

I doubt that you see Russell (because of the hammy) or Correa before 2015. Baez is the SS prospect that could make an impact this season, but the Cubs are not in a hurry to start his clock.
