Trumbo Stress Fracture

Postby germani40 » Wed Apr 23, 2014 6:05 pm

Mark Trumbo has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left foot.
It was originally called "soreness," but an MRI taken Wednesday revealed a broken bone. Trumbo is headed back to Arizona for further examination. The 28-year-old slugger could be looking at an extended absence. Apr 23 - 6:01 PM

officially on DL

Diamondbacks placed OF Mark Trumbo on the 15-day disabled list with a stress fracture in his left foot.

Trumbo was diagnosed with the injury on Wednesday in Chicago and flew back to Phoenix, Arizona for a range of tests to determine the severity. He missed almost six months with a stress fracture in his right foot in 2011, but he told reporters that this one doesn't feel as bad. Cody Ross stands to get a significant boost in playing time. Bad news for me. I have him on 3 teams. :~(

for SB help only. Their outfield was crowded before signing Trumbo. Still not a bad option for a UT spot though ...

Already have Josh Hamilton manning my DL slot, and injured Alex Cobb taking up one of three valuable spots on my bench.

Is Trumbo worth hanging on to? I haven't gotten a good feel for how long this will take to heal. I mean, his last one took six months, but this one "doesn't feel as bad." What does that mean?

Personally I'd drop him in a shallow bench/DL league. I'd wait until the tests come back in a few days before dropping him if you want to be safe. I'd say best case scenario is he'll be back by August. Even minor stress fractures are notorious for set backs. I'd be slightly more optimistic if he was still on an AL team and didn't have to lumber around the outfield to get at bats.
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!
