Blockbuster Preseason Trade WHIR100%

Postby RasmusFlow » Wed Mar 05, 2014 2:20 pm

12 Team, 8 Keeper, H2H league. Right now we just have our 8 keepers, draft hasn't happened yet. What are your thoughts on:
I give: Jose Bautista, Chris Davis and Adrian Gonzales
I receive: Manny Machado, Giancarlo Stanton and Anthony Rizzo
I believe that Bautista, Davis and AGon will all be on the decline this year. Do you think I'm giving up too much or too little?

My Keepers:
Jose Bautista
Chris Davis
Adrian Gonzales
Alex Rios
Josh Donaldson
Martin Prado
Brian McCann
Johnny Cueto

His Keepers:
Jay Bruce - OF
Starlin Castro - SS
Manny Machado - 3B
Andrew McCutchen - OF
Anthony Rizzo - 1B
Giancarlo Stanton - OF
Stephen Strasburg - SP
Michael Wacha - SP

If you are going full on rebuild, prepping for the future, it's not that bad of a trade. I feel he is obviously getting the better end of the deal for current talent, but if you are looking to be a contender in 2-3 years, this is a great trade. If you are going to be full on rebuilding, maybe snag a guy like Matt Harvey that you can put on the DL for the season and keep for next year. He would be a great addition to your staff. I think you lose severely on production for this year alone, but I like the idea of trading for the future. I think the deal is lopsided as it stands, so if you pare it down to a 2-for-2 it might make more sense without sending away three big sticks.

I wouldn't do this. I think you are giving up too much. The guys you are trading away still have 2-3 good seasons ahead in my opinion. Unless you are rebuilding for 5 years from now I would stay put.

please help

I'd say no to the deal; you're taking on more uncertainty than you should.

Machado is more of a long-term project but Rizzo carries greater risk of not realizing his potential. Stanton is inhibited by his lineup if he remains in Miami and his health is more of a question mark compared to Davis.

You're on the right track of trying to deal AGon and Bautista whereas I'd have no serious worries about Davis. AGon is steady but of course, past his prime power years. However, you might actually be selling low on Bautista, especially if he starts the season mashing. (If he didn't get injured the last two seasons, Bautista was on a 40+ HR pace in each of them.)

Sorry. I'd be hanging on to your package. I don't find it attractive much.

Help me out!

Crush is by far the best player in the deal imo. He's what you hope Stanton grows up into (but in RF).

Also I'm ready to give up on Rizzo personally. He's basically Pedro Alverez but at 1B. Oh and minus a bunch of HRs and RBIs. No thanks. :-t

A lot of folks are high on Rizzo, but you also failed to mention, ninja, that Chicago isn't short of decent 1b prospects.... :-b

Keep Chris Davis, dude is 28 and is still in his prime. Joey Bats can still mash but I understand the idea of moving him for future production. I would definitely try and move Agon.
