B Hamilton trade

Postby plamb23 » Wed Mar 05, 2014 2:00 am

12 team 5x5 roto keeper

I just traded Cole Hamels, my third best SP after King and Price:

For Billy Hamilton, who will be OF number 3 after Trout and Cutch.

Draft is next week, I have 9th pick. The following might be available at my pick: Cobb, Minor, Weaver, Ryu, Cashner, Fister, Lester, Garza, and Burnett.

What are your thoughts? Good trade?

Ehhh. Hamels had an off year. Hamilton is an unproven rookie. Fair amount of risk on both sides, so it is anyone's guess at this point.

Think you could have bagged a more proven player for an elite arm like Hamels who victimized by bad luck.

My thoughts were risk on both sides.

My overriding thought---I can find SPs on draft day and on waivers and B Hamilton can win me a category all by himself

Thanks for your input, I agree with your thoughts. I shopped Hamels for awhile with very little bites. Coulda jumped too early but his late start worried me.

Id rather have Hamels. Hamilton is scary since he might not get on base enough and be sent back down. But he could be a one cat king this year also.
Playing fantasy baseball/football since 1988.

I like Hamels a lot, but you clearly want Hamilton to dominate a category for you and he could pan out to be a better hitter than everyone expects. I think you overpaid for him a little bit, but in the end, you got the guy you wanted. Help with mine? viewtopic.php?t=467358

I think you overpaid for Hamilton but a lot of people are really hyping him up this year and Hamels has his questions too so not a totally bad deal. YOu have some good arms in the draft to go with so you will be ok.

please help

It's pretty fair IMO. Hamels' value is a bit less secure because of the biceps problem. However, if he pitches up to his peripherals (and the bad luck he had in 2013 negates itself), he would command better value than Hamilton can.

its a fair deal deal for now, if you can keep players for 1-4 years then you may have not done as well as you could have.
