You would be right, except that Dice-K can't be a reliever because of the way he prepares/warms up. I heard this from the announcers in a game last year. Kieth Hernandez's patience wore thin at times too because of Dice-K taking forever between pitches.

Anyone know how good Nate Jones' chances are at getting the closers role despite his injury?

He strained his butt so I doubt his injury will his chances and believe he threw some today. It's his role to lose and if he can stay healthy, pitch effectively, and have no one else in the pen blow everyone away, Jones should be the guy with only Matt Lindstrom as his main competition.

Casey Jansen shoulder tendonitis. Sergio worth a grab.

On Nate Jones, I believe he will take it even with the injury but his leash may not be long with Lindstrom as an option. Im a fan. Plus Reed got 40 saves on that team that only won 62?63?

Is Santos definitely the handcuff, or is Delebar in the mix?

Richard Durrett, ESPNDallas.com, had this to say on The Ranger Report Podcast yesterday about Neftali Feliz and his lower velocity:

“I’ll be honest, I don’t know…he did say that he wasn’t worried about the velocity, but the bottom line is that these reports in winter ball were that he was touching mid 90′s, even touching 97, and now you looking at a guy that was 87-91, and maybe touched 92 once today…there’s a big, big difference between those two numbers… He’s working on an new arm slot where he wants to get on top of it and it’s something that he’s got to get used to…but you just wonder, will the velocity come?”

According to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, Feliz has been less than impressive during Rangers’ camp, struggling with his mechanics during bullpens and intrasquad games, and as a result, not getting his arm extended enough to max out his velocity...If Feliz is still having a difficult time repeating his delivery, then the Rangers need to take it slow with him and get everything ironed out before the season starts, otherwise the right-hander is at a high-risk for re-injury trying to overthrow through faulty mechanics in order to get every bit of velocity of his arm once the season starts and the lights come on.
