Winter Olympics started today! Very excited.
What is your favourite event? Of course the hockey tournament is a must see as well as the short track speed skating but the one that I am looking forward to the most is the snowboard cross. If you havent seen it - 4 snowboarders race down a narrow track with jumps and sharp turns, first to the bottom advances. Very exciting with lots of crashes. If you are familiar with the RedBull Crashed Ice series, it is exactly the same but on snowboards instead of skates.
Get rid of all of the figure skating, give me more hockey, snowcross and curling.

If those are the babes of the Winter Games, there is a very good reason nobody watches.

speed skating, sledding events and timed downhill skiing events. Unfortunately the coverage in Taiwan sucks since they barely participate in the winter. I would even take NBC's coverage over this almost non-coverage. It would be amazing if they got the CBC feed here.

It's kind of sucked this year. I'm not a big fan of any sport that has a judging element to it based on aesthetics and there are a lot of those in the winter games. Especially the past two Olympics where judges are expecting high difficulty in the runs and it just leads to most of the competitors failing and nobody really pulling off perfection. I used to be able to even watch figure skating with my wife, now it's just boring to watch skaters make mistakes on stuff they probably only land 50% of the time because they have to do it. Luge has been ok to watch though, and the hockey is looking like it should be good at the end. Curling's always good.

I would really love it if the excitement here about Team USA would carry over into the NHL season but that hasn't happened and I don't see it changing.
