Lol, I actually like my team power. And I'm expecting a Bryce Harper home run breakout too. Definitely 30+... That's why I'm buying Bryce Harper this year.

rjforlife wrote:I also did this draft, and I input the results and Draft Buddy shows my squad finishing second with 73 Points, 34 in hitting and 39 in pitching.

NikkiSix finishes last with 55 points, 31 in hitting, 24 in pitching.

Keep in mind that this just uses a combo of Steamer/Fangraphs projections and doesn't include bench strength, which I think NikkiSix has a lot of.

Anyhow, here was my team in the same league:

C- Santana $16
1B- Belt $6
2B- Hill $6
3B- Beltre $36
SS- Bogaerts $4
OF- Stanton $30
OF- Gomez $28
OF- Cespedes $18
Util- Seager $4
Util- Kemp $13

BN- Phillips $10
BN- Venable $3
BN- Lowrie $4

SP- Bumgarner $25
SP- Price $21
SP- Medlen $9
SP- Shark $5
SP- Ubaldo $1
SP- Ross $1
RP- Romo $12
RP- Reed $5

BN- Smyly $2
BN- Kluber $1

Overall it's a well rounded team in both offense with power and speed combo at most positions, and pitching with good Ks and two solid enough closers to keep me in the mix. My other auctions were probably a bit better, but I am still happy with this squad and 2nd in draft buddy validates my thoughts a bit. I think now I'm truly ready for my big money keeper auction on Saturday.

NikkiSix- Had a good time drafting, and good luck in the league. Maybe I'll throw you your money back when I win the league :-D

1. Your offense is going to hurt in batting average.
2. You need more closers, but your pitching staff otherwise, has a nice balance of upside and star talent.

Joined a $50 money league. Here is my team.

C - Wilin Rosario
1B - Paul Goldschmidt
2B - Jason Kipnis
3B - Evan Longoria
SS - Xander Bogaerts
OF - Matt Holliday
OF - Jayson Werth
OF - Shane Victorino
Util - Albert Pujols
Util - Austin Jackson

SP - Gio Gonzalez
SP - Anibal Sanchez
RP - Tanner Scheppers
RP - Jesse Crain
P - Tyler Clippard
P - Jake McGee
P - Drew Smyly
P - Johnny Cueto
BN - Dan Haren
BN - CC Sabathia
BN - Matt Garza
BN - AJ Burnett
BN - Kris Medlen :-C

Closers were being taken so fast and early. I didn't like where they were going so I ended up waiting and missed out. Instead I stocked up on good middle relievers and starters.

Goldy/Kipnis/Longoria/Pujols/Holliday, that is a damn fine offensive group. The pitching may need some work and Medlen hurts, (on my roster too....) but overall I think it's a solid team if you wisely play matchups with your deep staff.

I was in a $20 one last night and the draft lasted 2 1/2 hours! It was brutal.

Same thing on closers, going way too early. One guy took closers on 5 of his first 12 picks. At one point in the draft (picks#130-150), 12 out of 21 picks were closers.

Try an auction. You're looking at about four hours or more.

It's a good team, but I wonder about the setup of your 3B. If I buy Lawrie, then his backup should probably be someone steady and reliable but boring enough to be cheap, like maybe Kyle Seager. It's possible that 3B becomes a black hole for you. That $38 for Harper seems a little high. Brandon Moss for 6 bucks seems like a steal to me but I haven't auctioned yet this year.

I don't know how much experience you have playing in shallow yahoo leagues (daily changes, no acquisition max)... But closers are really valuable in these formats.

Also, the draft is not only the most important part (strategically) to fantasy baseball, but to a lot of people, the most entertaining part of fantasy baseball.

The season is a LONG 6 month grind. If you can't spend a few hours patiently drafting your team, this probably isn't the hobby for you.

I have a little experience.

http://profiles.sports.yahoo.com/user/T ... R2L6ZM3H5Y

I cashed in 4 out of 5 pro leagues last year. I disagree with about everything you posted.

First of all, several of those closers that were taken 3-4 rounds too early will not be closing in a month or two. JJ Hoover may end up being just as valuable as a closer someone spent a high draft pick on. Last year my last pick in a couple of leagues was Uehara.

While I agree the draft is important, I think it is overrated. Daily drop/adds, line-up changes, and trades are at least equally important.

There is nothing entertaining about waiting for the guy with pick #2 to take his whole 1 min. 30 sec. to pick Miggy.

I have been in 3 14 team league drafts this year that were done in less than 2 hours. One of them has 30 player rosters. All 4 of the other pro league drafts I've been in this year were also less than 2 hours.

I look forward to being in a money league with you someday.
