Big Trout Trade help, please!

Postby Stevo57 » Mon Aug 12, 2013 1:38 am

12 team H2H, three keepers. I am closing in on a playoff spot and want to go all in to win this year. Two trades have been offered:

I give: Trout, Bogaerts, Lester
I get: Votto, Bautista, Andrus (the owner is playing for next year)

Less Biggie
I give: Cespedes
I get: Latos

Current roster:
S. Drew
A. Simmons
Bench: Bogaerts, Gyorko, Pujols (DL)

If I take Latos, these OF are on the wire: Reddick, Young, Arcia, Calhoun, Yelich
If I keep Cespedes and lose Lester, these SP are on the wire: Wheeler, Halladay, Jimenez

I would take the Cespedes trade and grab Yelich out of FA if this is a keeper.

Tough to give up Trout but Votto/Bautista are huge and Lester is not that hard to replace and Xander not likely to help much until sept and even then might be part time so since you need production now i would pull the trigger.

Cespedes/ Latos tough call but i like the OFers on your waiver wire quite a bit so maybe he's expendable (I'd look first at Yelich and then Arcia)

As tough as it would be to lose Trout, I think that would be the better deal to take. Your pitching seems stronger and deeper than your sticks at this point, and the Trout deal could actually make your offense better overall. Not often I feel good about a deal where you give up the best individual player, but this seems like a case where I'd consider it.

I'd grab Wheeler and/or Yelich regardless.

If your looking to win this year, then I would make the Votto trade. Your giving up Trout but getting two great players in return. Andrus is a solid short stop also since he should provide a nice amount of stolen bases.
